Although the site located, in Ayani Estate – Kibera, is near the river and railway line, rocky and steep, the learning
centre is meant to be a have fully equipped and integrated primary and secondary school. Thus, the new
secondary school building took advantage of the slope on a split level.
The design benchmarked with the leading Kenyan learning institutions ensures a creative learning environment was
achieved through adequate natural lighting and ventilation, use of natural and hard wearing materials to minimise
maintenance and collection of rainwater for the expected school’s heavy water use.
